Damascus: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa received United Nations Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres at the People’s Palace in Damascus, Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Syria and the United Nations, particularly in humanitarian and development areas, as well as supporting early recovery efforts and reconstruction.
According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions underscored the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. Guterres reiterated the United Nations’ solidarity with Syria and urged the international community to actively support the Syrian people.
In a social media post following his arrival in Damascus, Guterres emphasized the UN’s commitment to standing with Syria during this critical time. He called on the international community to maximize efforts in providing support to the Syrian population.
