Presidential Court Declares Mourning Period After Passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani


Abu dhabi: The Presidential Court has announced four days of official mourning following the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, father of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar. Flags will fly at half-mast at all official entities across the UAE and at the country’s embassies and diplomatic missions abroad for four days, beginning today, Sunday, 12 July, until the end of Wednesday, 15 July 2026.



According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE will observe the mourning period as a mark of respect and solidarity with the people of Qatar. The announcement reflects the close ties and bond shared between the two nations. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was a prominent figure, and his legacy will be remembered by many.



The official mourning period will see flags flown at half-mast as a tribute. This gesture is a customary practice observed in the UAE to honor prominent figures and show solidarity with neighboring nations in times of loss. The Presidential Court extended its heartfelt condolences to the Al Thani family, expressing wishes for strength and comfort during this period.
